COVID-19, Amaechi pleads with Buhari to focus on North

COVID-19: Amaechi Appeals To Buhari To Give More Attention To The North, Directs Transport Perm Sec To Donate Response Vehicles To Kano, Borno, Kaduna, Gombe, Katsina

The Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to give more attention to the north in the fight against COVID-19. The minister believes that the north is fast becoming the epicentre of coronavirus in the country, hence the need for such call.

Amaechi also frowned at the repatriation of almajiris from their state of residence to their state of origin by some governors, he said they are Nigerians and the constitution permits them to reside in any part of the country like every other Nigerian.

New Telegraph's Kemi Bayo reported that, the transport minister stated this, while playing host to the leadership of Arewa Maritime Practitioners Association (AMPA) in his office on Monday, 1 June. Amaechi disclosed to the northern maritime pressure group that he has directed the permanent secretary of the federal ministry of transportation, Sabiu Zakari to donate some vehicles to Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Gombe, and Borno states to assist them in the fight against COVID-19. Pledging that more support will come from his ministry as the Federal Government gradually reopens the economy.
